Nordic Chartering welcomes Hacklin onboard

Oy Hacklin Ltd expands its scope of business in the logistics sector with the acquisition of a considerable stake in the Finnish short sea operator Oy Nordic Chartering Ab.

This will create a strong partnership between the companies and bring added value for their customers. Hacklin joining as a shareholder in Nordic Chartering will also build a strong foundation for future vessel investments. The companies are working in different logistics sectors and will continue working under their own brand.

Hacklin is a family-owned company established in Port of Pori, Finland back in 1908. Since then, the Hacklin Group has grown into a global service provider offering versatile freight forwarding and logistics services. Today Hacklin Group´s companies in Helsinki, Hamina, Kotka, Hong Kong and Shanghai are specialized in project cargo, freight forwarding, warehousing services in Finland as well as efficient logistics solutions in bulk handling.

In the past Hacklin has also been a shipowner, investing in its first vessel already over 100 years ago. The latest shipping operation flying the Hacklin company flag was a container feeder service between Finland and Hamburg operated by Hacklin Seatrans 1986 – 2018.

Nordic Chartering is a privately owned Finnish short sea operator established in 2003. Since the start the company has operated with own tonnage and time-chartered vessels between 3000 – 5000 DWCC. All vessels are Ice Classed to secure operations all year round between the Baltic Sea and Western Europe. Since more than 20 years Nordic Chartering has been operating regular timber sailings from the Baltic Sea to Ireland. Nordic Chartering is specialized in part cargo operations and together with its strategic partners part cargoes can be loaded in the Baltic Sea and en route to Western Europe and the Mediterranean.

115 years of experience in logistics

On December 28th, 1908, or exactly 115 years ago, Otto Werner Hacklin founded the company together with his brother Emil. Otto Werner Hacklin grew up surrounded by ships and harbour life. He had been loading sailing ships from the age of 13.

December 28th, 1908 is the date on which the company’s articles of association were signed, and it is considered the official birthday of the Hacklin Group.

Nowadays Hacklin Group has grown to become a dynamic service provider for its customer’s logistics needs around the world. The company provides various logistics services and is active in international freight forwarding, project logistics, warehousing, distribution and related services for tailor-made logistics solutions.

Since the beginning Hacklin has been a family-owned company, today managed by the fourth generation.

Hacklin sells its port operations in Pori, Finland

Oy Hacklin Ltd has on 4th of July signed a contract to sell its port operations in the port of Pori to Olmar Management B.V and Stichting Depositary PGGM Infrastructure Funds who will establish a new Finnish company in Pori. By signing the contract Oy Hacklin Ltd sells its shares in Oy Hacklin Port Service Ltd, Oy Tahkoluoto Cargo Handling Ltd and Oy Mäntyluoto Terminals Ltd. At the same time all warehouses and office facilities used by Hacklin Group in the port of Pori have been sold to the same buyer. 

The contract signed by Oy Hacklin Ltd is a part of a larger acquisition. Port of Pori Ltd has simultaneously signed a contract on 4th of July 2022 to sell its crane operations in Pori to the same buyer. The transfer of the activities in Pori to the Buyers will be completed by the end of August 2022. 

The new strong port operator indicates that their intention is to invest on a long term in developing the port operations and the logistic activities in the port of Pori. 

Hacklin is a familyowned company and the port operation in the port of Pori has been a part of Hacklin Group´s activities since the company was established back in 1908. The contract that has been signed is a big change for the family-owned company, but the owners of Hacklin are convinced that the port operation in the port of Pori has a bright future. Port operations require big investments, and the financially strong buyer has the strength to raise funds to make investments to support the growth. 

Hacklin Group´s other logistics companies, Oy Hacklin Logistics Ltd (Helsinki), Oy Hacklin Hamiko Ltd (Hamina), Oy Hacklin Bulk Boys Ltd (Hamina & Kotka), Hacklin China Ltd (Hong Kong & Shanghai) are not included in the transaction, and they continue their activities as before. These companies employ 70 people and have all been very successful in recent years. Hacklin Group will, during the coming years focus, further develop and seek growth in the international logistics operations.

Ms. Maija-Liisa Anttila, Financial Manager of Hacklin Hamiko, to retire on 1.4.2021

Since 1986 she managed Hacklin Hamiko’s accounts as an employee of an accounting company. Back in 2001 Maija-Liisa joined Hacklin Hamiko as Financial Manager.

The devotion and hard work which she showed throughout these years are rare to find. We wish Maija-Liisa all the very best for the beginning of this new era of her life.

Pasi Luoma – Managing Director

Mr Pasi Luoma (Bachelor of Engineering, Logistics and International Transports) has been appointed as Managing Director of Oy Hacklin Hamiko Ltd as from 01st of January 2021.

He will start in his new position when Mr Hannu Pesonen, who has been acting as Managing Director since 1999, will retire on 31st of December 2020.

Pasi Luoma has been working for the company since 1998.

Tatyana Parkko – Vice President

Ms Tatyana Parkko (Master of Business Administration (MBA) International Business Management) has been appointed as Vice President of Oy Hacklin Hamiko Ltd as from 01st of January 2021.

She will be in charge of Marketing and Business Development of Hacklin Hamiko and its subsidiaries in Russia, OOO Hacklin CIS (Saint-Petersburg) and OOO Hacklin Hamiko (Moscow).

Ms Parkko has been working for Hacklin Hamiko since 2006.

Hacklin Hamiko provides services in logistics and warehousing. The headoffice is located in Port of HaminaKotka where the company has 60.000 m2 storage facilities.

The company offers cargo deliveries for shipments to and from the Baltic countries, Europe, Russia & the CIS countries.

Mr. Hannu Pesonen, Managing Director of Hacklin Hamiko, to retire on 31.12.2020

Hannu started his career on September 1, 1975, and has since then succeeded in many roles in transportation and logistics. Hannu is retiring after 23 years with Hacklin Hamiko, which he joined as Managing Director back in 1997.

We would like to thank Hannu for his great work and commitment. Throughout the years of his work with Hacklin Hamiko, there have been significant changes in the company’s business environment and in logistics in general.

Thanks to Hannu’s excellent management skills and professionalism as well customer-focused mindset of all employees, we have been able to meet the changing needs of our customers and seize new business opportunities.

We wish Hannu a happy retirement and the best of luck in the future!

Hacklin Bulk Boys has appointed Juha Nylund as Managing Director

B.Eng (Logistics) Juha Nylund has been appointed as Managing Director of Oy Hacklin Bulk Boys Ltd. Mr Nylund has been working for the company since 2010.

Hacklin Bulk Boys has a long experience in services for material handling, warehousing and transports of a wide variety of bulk material. The warehouse terminals are located in the Port of HaminaKotka.

Hacklin Bulk Boys is a part of Hacklin Group who has offices in Hamina, Helsinki, Kotka and Pori and abroad in Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
